Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor

Bei Engagements außerhalb der Wiener Staatsoper tritt der Wiener Staatsopernchor unter dem Namen "Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor" auf. Dieser Name soll ausdrücken, dass der Chor nicht nur die gesamte Opernliteratur, sondern auch ein umfangreiches Konzert- Repertoire beherrscht.

Wie das Orchester der Wiener Staatsoper einst ein eigenes Konzert- Ensemble (die "Wiener Philharmoniker") gründete, so hat 1927 das Chormitglied Viktor Maiwald die "Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor" ins Leben gerufen.

Nach dem Vorbild der Wiener Philharmoniker, die aus dem Orchester der Staatsoper hervorgingen, sollte der Chor auch ausserhalb der Staatsoper als professioneller Konzertchor die Musikszene bereichern. Das ursprüngliche Ziel ist in all den Jahren unverändert geblieben: mit allen großen Dirigenten und bedeutenden Orchestern Werke der Chorliteratur zu erarbeiten und in Konzerten auf höchstem Niveau dem Publikum zu präsentieren.

Concert Association of the Vienna State Opera Chorus

Outside of the Vienna State Opera House the Vienna State Opera Chorus performs as the "Concert Association of the Vienna State Opera Chorus". This name expresses that the choir is not only capable of singing extended opera literature, but also a wide variety of concert repertoire.

Choir-member Viktor Maiwald established the Concert Association of the Vienna State Opera Chorus (CA) in 1927, in its personnel virtually identical to the Chorus of the Wiener Staatsoper, takes part in all performances of the chorus outside the Vienna Opera House.

How the Vienna State Opera Orchestra founded it´s own Concert ensemble (The Vienna Philharmonica), it resulted in that the Vienna State Opera Chorus founded the Concert Association (CA) in 1927. The original aim has remained constant through the years: to perform the important choral works with all the great Conductors and orchestras, and to present them to the public in the highest niveau.

Associazione Concertistica Coro Opera di Stato di Vienna

Al di fuori dell'Opera di Stato, il Coro si esibisce sotto il nome di "Associazione Concertistica Coro dell'Opera di Stato di Vienna". Tale nome tende a sottolineare che il Coro vanta nel suo repertorio non solo l'intera letteratura operistica, ma anche numerosissime composizioni del repertorio sinfonico.

Nel 1927 Viktor Maiwald, membro del coro, fondò l´Associazione Concertistica Coro dell´Opera di Vienna (AC). Ripetendo la formula già adottata dai Wiener Philharmoniker, che si formarono dall´orchestra dell´Opera di Vienna, anche il Coro si assume il compito di arricchire la scena concertistica viennese anche al di fuori del Teatro dell´Opera.

Così come l'orchestra dell'Opera di Stato di Vienna nel passato ha costituito un proprio gruppo (i "Wiener Philharmoniker"), il coro dell'Opera di Vienna ha fondato "L'Ass.Conc. Coro dell'Opera di Stato di Vienna". Lo scopo originario è rimasto invariato negli anni: presentare al pubblico musica del repertorio vocale eseguita ad alto livello, sotto la guida dei più grandi direttori d'orchestra, e con l'accompagnamento delle orchestre più prestigiose.

Der Wiener Staatsopernchor besteht aus zweiundneunzig fest engagierten professionellen Sängern und bildet so neben Solisten, Orchester, Ballett und Bühnentechnik einen der Grundpfeiler der Wiener Staatsoper.

Darüber hinaus wirken die Chormitglieder seit 1923 ununterbrochen bei den Salzburger Festspielen mit (seit 1927 als "Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor"). Dadurch steht der Chor an etwa 300 Abenden im Jahr in bis zu fünfundfünfzig verschiedenen Opern auf der Bühne. Dazu kommen noch CD- Einspielungen und Konzert- Termine.

The Vienna State Opera Chorus is composed of ninety-two solidly engaged professional singers and build up one of the most important cornerstones of the Vienna State Opera along with the soloists, orchestra and ballet.

Annually, since 1923, the Vienna State opera Chorus also additionally participates at the Salzburg Festival (since 1927 under the name "Concert Association"). Therefore the choir performs up to fifty-five different operas on almost every night of the year. Other than that, there are numerous CD-recordings and concerts on the program.

Il Coro dell'Opera di Vienna, composto da 92 cantanti professionisti, costituisce insieme a solisti, orchestra, balletto e tecnici di palcoscenico uno dei pilastri principali del Teatro dell'Opera di Vienna.

Inoltre l'Ass.Conc. (AC) dal 1923 partecipa ogni anno al Festival di Salisburgo. Per questo il Coro si esibisce circa 300 sere all'anno in 55 opere diverse, senza contare le produzioni di CD ed i concerti sinfonici.

Seit 1977 verleiht die Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor die "Clemens Krauss Medaille" in Gold (G), Silber (S) oder Bronze (B) an Persönlichkeiten, die sich um die KV besonders verdient gemacht haben.

Personalities that show particular commitment are awarded prizes by the Concert Association since 1977 in form of the "Clemens Krauss Medal" in Gold (G), Silver (S) and Bronze (B).

Dal 1977 l'Ass.Conc.Coro dell'Opera di Vienna conferisce la Medaglia Clemens Krauss in oro (G), argento (S) o bronzo (B) a personalità che abbiano svolto attività meritoria per l'Associazione.

Seit dem Gründungsjahr 1927 ernennt die Konzertvereinigung immer einen, dem Chor nahestehenden, namhaften Dirigenten zu ihrem Konzertdirektor.

Since the foundation-year 1927, the CA always nominates a renowned conductor as its concert-director.

Dal 1927, anno di fondazione, l'Ass.Conc. nomina quale suo direttore sinfonico un Direttore d'orchestra di rilievo che si sia particolarmente dedicato al lavoro con il Coro.

Gerade bei den Salzburger Festspielen, wo mehrere Produktionen parallel ablaufen und die Konzertvereinigung mit ihrer normalen Chorbesetzung allein nicht mehr auskommt, kommen Substituten zum Zuge, die nach einem Vorsing- Auswahlverfahren ausgewählt werden, um den Chor zu verstärken.

Da die Konzertvereinigung kein reiner Konzertchor ist, sondern auch sehr viele szenische Aufgaben (Foto) zu bewältigen hat, ist die Freude am Theaterspielen (neben einer ausgebildeten Gesangsstimme) als Grundvoraussetzung selbstverständlich.

For example at the Salzburg Festival, where several productions run parallel, the CA can't manage everything with only the normal choir. Therefore substitutes are called for, selected after an audition, to reinforce the choir.

Since the CA isn't only a pure concert choir, but also have to manage a great amount of scenic tasks (photo), it goes without saying that the pleasure of acting is an essential requirement.

Al Festival di Salisburgo, dove vengono effettuate parallelamente più produzioni, l'Ass.Conc. con il suo normale numero di coristi non riuscirebbe a coprire il fabbisogno; per rinforzare le fila del Coro vengono dunque ingaggiati per mezzo di audizioni degli elementi aggiunti.

Poiché il Coro dell'Ass.Conc. agisce soprattutto sul palcoscenico (foto), nella scelta degli aggiunti si tiene conto non solo della professionalità  canora, ma anche della presenza scenica..
